Root Canal Treatment

Relieve pain and save your natural teeth.

Endodontic treatment, commonly known as root canal therapy, is done to save a tooth that is severely damaged by injury or infection.

A cracked or decayed tooth becomes a breeding ground for bacteria which can cause infection. Left untreated, the infection can travel down to the pulp and the root of the tooth and gradually cause bone, gum, and tooth loss.

Symptoms of infected or damaged tooth include toothache, tender gums, facial swelling, headache, sensitivity, and pain while chewing or biting. A root canal treatment will relieve the pain and save a tooth that would otherwise be extracted.

Entire procedure isPain-free

A root canal treatment is pretty straightforward and can be done in one or two visits.

Dr. Carlos, our root canal specialist, starts by numbing the tooth to make sure the entire procedure is pain-free. Using a microscope for precision and enhanced visibility, he will remove the infected or inflamed pulp inside the tooth, clean and disinfect the root canals, and seal the space.

He will place a temporary filling and will refer you back to you dentist for your permanent crown.

What happens
after a root canal?

You will most likely be numb for two to four hours following your root canal, however, most patients are able to return to school or work right after their appointment. We may recommend a follow-up visit to evaluate your healing and the success of the treatment.

As the shots wear off, you may feel some mild discomfort for a few days which usually responds very well to over-the-counter pain medications. Do not hesitate to give us a call if you experience persistent pain or swelling lasting more than three days.
